Tick-Tock

Every word I speak is a tick closer to death,

even the unspoken words,

even the breaths I take from the world are ticks closer to the hour of death.

But most of the time I don’t even realize I’m breathing or talking in my head

and when I try to think as little as possible and breathe only when I can’t hold it anymore,

the clock still ticks and I’ve only save a few seconds.

I do this everyday and after a week there’s only a minute saved,

and seeing that one minute saved makes me remember what it cost.

I didn’t talk to my friends or see them for days just to save a minute,

and this made me realize that the clock will always strike death,

no matter what,

so what matters is how we spend those few words and breaths we have and do what we love.
